family who emigrated to Ephesus or more likely were descendants of freedmen
of P. Vedius Pollio.
Old spelling is Veidius.
The kouretes (or curetes) were a religious
confraternity at Ephesus consisting ofsix men, often called pious and philosebastoi (emperor-loving).
