discuss Suetonius' (Div. Iul., 83.2) statement that Caesar's three heirs (Octavius = Octavianus, L. Pinarius and Q. Pedius) were grand-nephews of Caesar.
If the cos 43 BC is the heir, he cannot be a grand-nephew for chronological reasons, since he must be born by c.90 (curul aed cand for 55 or 54, normally aged 36),
but must be a nephew. It is possible, but there is no evidence, that the actual heir was Q. Pedius' son RE2 (q 41), Suetonius would then be correct
that all three heirs were grand-nephews.
Knorr, Ortwin: "Three Orators and a Flawed Argument" in The Classical Journal, Vol. 100, 2005, p. 393-400 argues against
that Q. Pedius orator, q 41 BC, had the cognomen Publicola.
