Notes: See stemma for the patrician Iulii for Octavian's descendants.
As Munzer noted in RE RE13 can hardly be the grandfather of RE15 as Suetonius states, a generation is missing. Alternative is that RE13 is the younger brother of
RE16 (as proposed by Russel Geer: Suetonis Augustus I, 2 (in The American Journal of Philology Vol.55, 1934 p. 337-339)
RE79 is called Caius by Suetonius (Aug. 2), but the cos 165 is a Cn.f.Cn.n. Thus either RE79 was a Cn. And Suetonius is in error or if a C. then there must be an
intervening generation and C. Octavius Rufus is pushed back to a quaestorship c.255.
The senatus consultum de agro Pergameno has now been persuasively re-dated to 101 rather than 129, cf Mattingly 1972.
Note C. Iulius Octavius Volusenna Rogatianus (J629, E535), governor of Bithynia-Pontus 253 AD.
See stemma for Galatia. Octavius Fronto cannot be governor of Galatia if Fronto's governorship is moved from 27-30 or 29-32 to 13 to 16 AD, if Coscun's redating of the high priests of Ancyra is correct.
